Hi I’m Laura – a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist based in Bath, working with clients online and across the UK and Internationally
‘Before becoming a hypnotherapist, I spent years working with people in some of life’s most difficult moments, first as a veterinary nurse, then in psychology and charity work supporting people through crisis, trauma, and emotional struggle.
That experience gave me something no training alone can teach: a deep understanding of what it feels like to carry something heavy, and what it actually takes for people to move forward.
What i learned through that work shapes everything about how I practise today. People don’t need fixing. They need to feel genuinely understood, and to understand what’s happening in their own brain. Because once that clicks, something shifts.
I see people as themselves, not as their diagnosis, their history, or their problem.
And when someone feels truly heard, without judgement, the work begins almost by itself.
That’s what i bring to my therapy with clients. Not just training and technique, but real human understanding of what it means to struggle, to cope, and to want things to be different.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology alongside my DSFH and HPD, and am currently completing my Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma and further training in Neurofeedback for ADHD and Insomnia. I’m also a Certified Hypnobirthing Practitioner. I’m registered with the AfSFH, NCH, CNHC and BPS, and i trained at the Clifotn Practice in Bristol, one of the most respected hypnotherapy training centres in the UK.
I am also listed on the Hypnotherapy Directory, one of the UK’s leading professional directories for verified hypnotherapists.
Sessions don’t always look the way people expect. There’s often laughter. Real conversation. A kind of thinking out loud that feels different from the noise inside your head.
When thoughts are spoken rather than just lived in, something shifts. There’s a beat, a moment of space, before the response comes. In that beat, the automatic reaction softens. the inner critic gets quieter. What comes next is more considered, more honest, more truly theirs.
That’s the space i try to create. Not clinical. Not formal. Just honest, human, and completely safe to be exactly where you are.
We’re often treated as two seperate things, a body that medicine addresses, or a mind that therapy addresses. But the truth is we exist in the space between the two. The place where brain and body connect, communicate, and navigate daily life together.
That beautiful duality of fuctioning is where everything happens, and yet most of us have never been given a map.
That in between space, where your nervous system meets your emotions, where your thoughts shape your biology and your body feeds back into your mind, is often the most overlooked part of healthcare. Medicine treats the body. Therapy treats the mind. But that middle ground, where the two are in constant conversation, rarely gets the attention it deserves.
It’s the ‘black hole’ of modern healthcare. That is exactly where I work.
We wouldn’t step into the cockpit of a plane without knowing how to fly it. Yet we pilot our own minds and bodies every single day, often without understanding how we respond the way we do, what drives the feelings we have, or why some patterns are so hard to shift.
That’s why neuroscience sits at the heart of my work. Not as a lecture, but a s atorch. When people understand what their brain is actually doing, and why, the shame lifts, the self blame softens, and the path forward becomes clearer.
Understanding yourself is where change begins.
