Quit Smoking Hypnotherapy

Focused stop smoking hypnotherapy sessions in Bath and online, designed to break the habit and support lasting change.

Are You Ready To Become A Non Smoker?

Quit smoking hypnotherapy in Bath with Laura Wiltshire helps you stop by changing the habit loop that keeps cigarettes automatic.

No matter what your reason for wanting to stop, protecting your health, saving money, supporting your relationships, or simply being tired of feeling tied to cigarettes, what matters most is your readiness.

You may have tried patches, gum or vaping before. For some they work for a while, but the old habit often creeps back.  That doesn’t mean you’ve failed.  It means your brain is still running the same pattern underneath.

For many people, smoking isn’t just about nicotine.  It becomes an emotional crutch, something to reach for in moments of stress, boredom, or habit.  These are common patterns the brain builds over time.  But  patterns can change.

What Makes The Difference

How Quit Smoking Hypnotherapy Works

When you smoke, your brain learns to link certain moments with a cigarette, stress, finishing a meal, having a drink, or taking a break. Over time, it becomes automatic: the situation appears and the urge fires before you’ve even made a conscious choice. Solution‑Focused Hypnotherapy works by disrupting that loop. Instead of battling an urge, your brain simply moves on, without the thought even taking hold. This isn’t about willpower or forcing yourself through cravings. It’s about creating the mindset and patterns of a non‑smoker, so living without cigarettes feels natural and sustainable.

What's actually happening in your brain

Smoking isn’t a weakness or a lack of willpower.  It’s a deeply embedded neural pattern, and understanding that changes everything.

Every time you smoke in a particular situation, after a meal, with a coffee, when stressed, your brain releases dopamine, the reward chemical.  It feels good.  And your brain notices.  It begins to associate that situation with the reward, building a neural pathway that says: this moment = cigarette.

Over time, that  pathway gets faster and stronger.  Eventually the brain triggers the urge automatically, before you’ve even consciously thought about it.  The situation appears and the pattern fires. That’s why so many people find themselves with a cigarette in hand before they’ve made any decision at all.

Nicotine reinforces this further.  It binds to receptors in the brain that are part of your natural reward system, the same system that responds to food, connection, and pleasure.  When nicotine arrives those receptors light up.  When it leaves, they quieten, creating the sensation of craving.

But here’s what most stop-smoking approaches miss: the nicotine itself is only part of the story.  the deeper pattern, the neural loop, the automatic response, the brain’s learned association, is what keeps people stuck.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works directly with that pattern.  In a relaxed, focused state, the brain becomes more open to change.  We use that openness to disrupt the old loop and build something new, the automatic responses of a non-smoker, not someone fighting an urge, but someone who simply doesn’t reach for a cigarette.

FAQs

Does this really work?

Many people report a positive shift  after their session.  Everyone’s
experience is individual, results cannot be guaranteed, most notice a difference quickly.

That’s very common. Those approaches address nicotine, but don’t change the habit loop in the brain.   Hypnotherapy works at a different level, disrupting the automatic pattern rather than just managing the craving.

Most client’s don’t.  The aim is to build the mindset of a non-smoker, someone who simply doesn’t reach for a cigarette, rather than someone who is fighting the urge not to.

No. You remain fully in control throughout. Hypnosis is a natural, state of focused relaxation, you can’t be made to do anything you don’t want to do.

This is what we know

  • Smoking is a learned pattern held in the brain, not a reflection of willpower or strength.
  • The brain’s habit loop can be disrupted.  Old “smoking patterns” can be replaced with the mindset of a non-smoker.
  • Nicotine replacement (patches, gum, vaping) may take the edge off, but they don’t reprogram the brains habit loop.
  • Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps calm the stress response andlay down new neural pathways, so smoking is no longer your brain’s default answer.

A 2025 systemic review of 63 studies found that in two thirds of cases, hypnotherapy had a positive impact on smoking cessation.  A seperate study found hypnotherapy was more effective thatn nicotine replacement therapy at 26 weeks.  Research also shows hypnotherapy perfoems comparably to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for stopping smoking.

One randomised controlled trial found hypnotherapy was over threeetimes more likely to result in abstinence at six months compared to nicotine replacement therapy alone.

The evidence points consistently to hypnotherapy as a meanigful tool, particularly when the psychological habit loop is addressed alongside physical dependency.  That’s exactly what this work focuses on.

My Commitment to you

What I can promise is care, experience, and a genuine commitment to helping you step forward as a non-smoker.  The most powerful results come when commitment meets the right support, and that’s exactly what this work is designed for.
