Child & Teen Support

Helping young people feel calmer, stronger, and more themselves again

Growing up isn’t easy. When life feels overwhelming or confusing, it can impact everything — behaviour, emotions, sleep, friendships, school, confidence. And because children and teens often struggle to express what’s going on inside, those feelings show up in other ways. Some withdraw. Some lash out. Some distract or avoid. Some carry on in silence, wearing a mask just to get through the day. Others develop physical symptoms like tics or bedwetting. Some may even begin self-harming. Every child has their own way of coping when things feel too much — and every response has a story behind it.

What they might be experiencing

These struggles can look like anxiety, fear, shutdown, or outbursts. They might be rooted in school pressure, friendship dynamics, self-image, blended families, grief, trauma — or just the constant feeling of not measuring up. Add learning differences like ADHD or dyslexia, and even everyday tasks can feel like climbing a mountain. One difficulty often leads to another, creating a tangle of emotions and reactions. Helping them gently untangle this confusion — and understand that none of it defines who they are — is empowering in itself. It’s often the thing that helps them start to feel more like themselves again.

This is what we know...

The brain learns through repetition. Thoughts and behaviours become habits — even the unhelpful
ones — and over time, the brain just keeps running what it knows. That’s why some young people
get stuck in cycles of panic, withdrawal, perfectionism, anger, or low self-worth.
The good news is: the brain can change.
When children and teens understand what’s happening in their brain and body, it gives them space
to breathe. They begin to feel gently hopeful — even if they’ve lost that feeling for a while. I can’t
offer guarantees (no ethical therapist can), but I do know that when they start thinking and
responding differently, things begin to shift. Often sooner than they expect

This is how I help

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps children and teens build new emotional pathways — calmly,
gently, and with a focus on what’s working. We don’t revisit the past or force them to talk about
what they’re not ready for. We focus on solutions, strengths, and the natural ability of their brain to
rewire itself.
Hypnotherapy is a natural, familiar state — the same one the brain uses and creates in daydreaming,
imagination, or deep focus. That’s why it feels so safe and comfortable.
In sessions, I help them:

• Feel calmer and less overwhelmed

• Build confidence and emotional resilience

• Improve sleep, focus, and mood

• Reduce panic, anger, and negative patterns

• Reconnect with their strengths and potential

Step by step, through guided relaxation and practical, brain-based tools, they develop new patterns
that help them feel more in control — from the inside out.

What sessions look like

• Relaxed, age-appropriate support tailored to their needs

• For children: metaphor, creative tools, and imagination

• For teens: respectful space to talk and explore without pressure

• Every session builds trust, confidence, and emotional safety

• No judgment, no labels, no force — just support

Safety, trust and confidentiality

I am DBS Enhanced Checked, and I lead every session with compassion, empathy, and respect.
Confidentiality is crucial for young people to open up. What they share stays between us, unless
safeguarding requires otherwise. They deserve a space where they feel heard, protected, and never
judged.
They also deserve to know they can trust the person they’re talking to. That’s why I emphasise trust,
privacy, and comfort — every step of the way.

A way forward

It might feel heavy right now — for them and for you — but neither of you are alone in this.
Support is how we heal, grow, and reclaim balance. We all need it at times. With the right help,
young people can reconnect with themselves, find calm, and step into a future they feel more
prepared to handle.

If you’d like to explore support for your child or teen, I’m here — kind, confidential,
professional, and fully on their side. No pressure. Just a genuine wish to help.
